How to become a Swim Teacher?

Hooked Swim has a culture centred on encouragement and enjoyment. We want our swimmers to feel like they get the most out of every session and have a desire to return to the pool. With the guidance of our expert swim instructors and knowledgeable coaching staff, you too can start swimming for life.

1. Accredited Water Safety Qualification
You can complete a swim teacher course through various providers such as AUSTSWIM, ASCTA, or Royal Life Saving.

2. Working With Children Check (WWC)
This mandatory check ensures you’re cleared to work with children. It’s valid for three years and can be obtained through the Working with Children Check in Western Australia.

3. CPR Certification
A valid CPR certification is required as part of your Water Safety Qualification. You can complete this course with any accredited provider, including St John Ambulance.

Once you’ve obtained these qualifications, you’ll need to complete practical hours at a swim school to get signed off. After finishing your hours, you’ll be ready to start teaching!

If you’re interested in becoming a swim teacher but don’t have the required qualifications yet, don’t worry—reach out to us using the form below, and we’ll guide you through the process!
